Cilliní in modern Ireland: tradition, community and archaeology - a talk by Deirdre McGuirk In-Person

Deirdre McGuirk is a Public Historian and former Curator of the Michael Davitt Museum, Deirdre holds an MA in Public History and Cultural Heritage from the University of Limerick (UL) and a BA (Hons) in History and Geography from the Atlantic Technological University (ATU), Co. Mayo.   

Deirdre has been studying cilliní (children’s burial grounds) for a number of years and has recently produced and presented a documentary on the topic.  Her original research focused on the archaeology and traditional customs of cilliní in her community of Louisburgh, Co. Mayo.  Deirdre then furthered her study from a public history perspective, focusing on social justice and Sites of Conscience. Deirdre is a member of Louisburgh Killeen Heritage.
